Herringbone

Herringbone
If you think that the Slide-stepping technique is some difficult, because you have to move sideways, In this section you will learn another way to move uphill with your Skis on, which is called Herringbone. It’s named this way due to the marks that your Skis leave on the snow. This Herringbone technique allows you to move uphill, which is similar to walking on a flat surface, with the difference that you have to keep your Skis in a V-shape.

  • STEP 1: Place your skis matching up the tails and the tips wide apart, this way you will form a V-shape whit skis. This position will avoid you slide backwards. After, lift one Ski and step forward.
  • STEP 2: Next lift the other Ski and step up, slightly ahead of the first one. Always keeping the V-shape if you prefer also you can take small steps without sliding. This way, continue moving forward until you reach the area where you want to be.
