The primary goal of the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education is to "Provide avalanche instructors with the tools to educate students about the knowledge and decision making skills necessary to travel in avalanche terrain." AIARE offers a range of courses for back country travelers. Courses are offered from California to New Hampshire.
